As the day draws to a close, the nocturnal animals and insects wake up. Our walk at twilight brings us into the mysterious world of the forest at night, with all its unusual sounds and sights. It is an entirely different experience from the forest during the day. With your expert naturalist guide, you will leave Mawamba Lodge by boat at about 5:30 p.m. for a 5-minute ride to our private trails near the Tortuguero National Park.

Your two-hour Tortuguero Night Hike will take you along forest trails that are built with concrete and raised off the ground, so you can safely walk with peace of mind and focus on nature's magic as it grows dark.

We will return to the lodge in time for dinner.

What to bring

Comfortable closed walking shoes, insect repellent (we recommend putting this on before the walk), and a rain poncho or jacket. Each participant will receive a small flashlight at the start to use during the tour. Please be mindful not to scare animals with the light during your forest walk.
